ABOUT ROGER

Roger Lotz is the Public Information Manager at St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL). From 2007 to 2008, he served as Congressman Brad Sherman’s press secretary. There he coordinated the Congressman's efforts to pass the Armenian Genocide Resolution in 2007 as well as the Congressman's legislative victory in beating the White House-led "economic bailout" of Wall Street on its first vote in October 2008.

Prior to this, Roger successfully developed the public affairs operation for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration’s (RITA) Office of Governmental, International and Public Affairs. RITA began operating as a model administration within the Department of Transportation. RITA is responsible for the U.S. Department of Transportation's research which includes: the Volpe National Transportation Center located in Cambridge, Massachusetts (home of various Federal Aviation Administration research programs); the Transportation Safety Institute located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (home of the department's aviation crash investigation program) and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (keepers of a great deal of the department's aviation data). Working in these areas gave him valuable insight into the technical aspects of aviation. He also came to understand how federal transportation programs impact both business and the public.

Roger began his career with the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) in 2002 with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics as a press specialist. There he helped develop the on-time airline/airport data sets that are reported monthly and are now used consistently by the news media and Congress. To make his resume standout with those in charge of hiring this position for USDOT, Roger decided to spend a year working for American Eagle Airlines as a flight attendant.

Roger started as a freelance radio reporter for United Press International in Chicago. He has also been a special projects producer for CBS2 Chicago. During his career, Roger has covered Rev. Jesse Jackson running for the presidency, the New Hampshire primary and has politically staffed or covered as a journalist numerous political conventions. One of Roger's most interesting assignments found him reporting from just outside Waco, Texas as the Branch Davidians held-off a 51-day siege with agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and soldiers of the Texas National Guard.

Roger has worked as a public affairs specialist contractor for the Department of Defense, as the spokesperson and manager of media relations for the Wisconsin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and produced newscasts at WKOW-TV, Madison, WI. Before joining STL, he was the special projects and an AM news producer at WILX-TV in Lansing, MI.
